Performance- Hardness
|
| |
| Hardness is considered
a rough indicator of resistance to abrasive wear. The standard
method for measuring the hardness of CRODON wear plate is via
diamond indentation. Because the CRODON wear surface is so thin,
the Brinnell and Rockwell systems actually measure the hardness
of the substrate layer, rather than the CRODON hard coat surface.
There are two methods - Knoop and Vickers
and the results are listed below. The Brinnell and Rockwell
"C" measures shown are estimates based on the diamond
indentation results.
The Mohs Scale measures the ability of one
material to scratch another. Diamond (10) is the only material
that is hard enough to scratch the CRODON wear surface.
